For those guests unable to visit the large game reserves such as Kruger, it is still possible to see large mammals, including the “big five”, at private game reserves within a couple of hours drive from Cape Town.

Should you not wish to drive yourself there is a company which will collect you from Makapa Lodge, drive you to the game reserve where they will give you breakfast or lunch, take you on an escorted game drive and then return you to our Lodge.

Walking with Baboons - A wildlife activity unique to this area.

Spend time with some of the Chacma Baboons of the Cape Peninsula. A specialized 2-3 hour walking tour takes you through mountain fynbos where baboons are encountered in their natural environment.
